Registered Massage Therapist
I first became interested in Massage Therapy while suffering from an injury brought on by my new found love of running. I was convinced to see a friend for Massage Therapy treatment that included Active Release treatment (A.R.T.). I was back running, biking and swimming pain free within a very short time! As time went on the pulp and paper industry in which I had been employed in for the past 16 years took a huge downturn. The very moment I heard that my "job of a life-time" was to be no more I knew what avenue I wanted to pursue. I studied and became a Registered Massage Therapist to help people with their pain and injuries and discovered that this is a "job of a life-time"! I am a 2008 graduate of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in Fredericton, New Brunswick. While completing my education to become a Registered Massage Therapist I also spent time studying and volunteering to obtain my Certified Sports Massage Therapist Certification with a focus on Active Myofascial Release Techniques. To further my knowledge I am currently studying for certification as an Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.) Practitioner, and have recently acquired certification in A.R.T. for the Upper Extremities. I think it is a magical thing to be able to help the human body with one's own hands!
Registered Massage Therapist
My educational background started with a degree in Physical Education. I am also a Registered Kinesiologist, Registered Massage Therapist and a Certified Lensen Therapist. I have 14 years of work experience in the occupational rehabilitation industry. My interest in Massage Therapy developed as a way to further enhance my skill set in treating injuries. My focus is towards the therapeutic or clinical spectrum and its application in the rehabilitation of sport and work related injury. I have completed specialty clinics on Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Functional Movement Screen, Sequential Functional Movement Assessment and Active Release Techniques. I view Massage Therapy as one modality that can be used in conjunction with active strategies to help with a wide variety of conditions.
Registered Massage Therapist
My interest in Massage Therapy began while I was employed as a Sports Trainer with Junior A hockey for 8 years. During that time I provided Pre and Post Sports Massage to athletes as well as provided therapeutic treatments for injuries and overall well-being. I have always been health and wellness focused and I am passionate about developing my Massage Therapy skills to assist both athletes and clients performance and feel their best. I completed my 2200 hours of Massage Therapy training 4 years ago through the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon, BC. I regularly attend continuing education and personal development courses to develop and refine my skills as well as to bring compassion and positive energy to my clients.
